Initial reaction from the Chair on the Bringing Hope, Building Futures: Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan 2026-2031

Commenting on the publication today of the Bringing Hope, Building Futures: Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan 2026-2031 to eradicate child poverty by 2030, Chair of the Poverty and Inequality Commission Professor Stephen Sinclair said:

“We welcome today’s publication and the Scottish Government’s continued commitment to meeting the 2030 child poverty targets.

“Ending child poverty in Scotland by 2030 can be achieved but only if there continues to be political consensus and a genuine will to do so beyond May’s Holyrood election.

“Meeting the 2030 targets is a moral commitment which Scotland has made to every child and, as the Commission has repeatedly stressed, we need urgent and courageous action to ensure we don’t break our promise to them.”
