Commenting on the publication of the Scottish Government’s Budget for 2025 to 2026 yesterday and the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government’s Budget statement to the Scottish Parliament, Professor Stephen Sinclair, Chair of the Poverty and Inequality Commission, said:
“The Commission welcomes the Cabinet Secretary’s Budget announcement yesterday, signalling the Scottish Government’s intention to mitigate the impact of the two-child cap.
“This is a move in the right direction and, when it is implemented, will benefit many families in Scotland who continue to be trapped in poverty.”
